My Greenie is no longer a greenie anymore
Man was this week a good one! We have seen so many miracles! Here are some highlights.
So on Sunday last week we had a prompting to go visit Isatu, and old investigator who fell of the face of the earth. Well she let us in and turns out they were moving to another apartment in the same complex. We said we would come back to help on Monday. Anyways, we go back and she really didn't have anything for us to do, but we ended up talking to her for about an hour, and she really opened up. It was so cool!
Also that same night we get a text from a media referral that we tried to contact like a month or more ago. He texted us back and said that he really did want a bible. Well we go over Tuesday morning, and he is just at a really low point in his life. But he has some really good friends who are Mormon and after he lost everything he decided to reach out online. Anyways, we ended up leaving him a bible and a book of Mormon. He was super interested and said that we could come back and tell him more about it!
Then we had a lesson with April. Well we get there and if you remember on Friday she said that she was done smoking, that she had had her last cigarette. Well she's been trying to quit for a long time and so we didn't really know if she would. Anyways, we get there on Tuesday and she still hadn't smoked! Which if that is the case and she keep sit up, she could get baptized a week after she stopped. Long story short, we had her interviewed and found worthy and April was baptized on Saturday! It was wonderful and the ward was very supportive! It has been a long time coming but she did it and we are so happy for her!
We had Greenie Grad this week and it was wonderful! Sister Maloney did a great job teaching. And it was cool, I had a really neat experience with another sister teaching me as the investigator. We had a very spiritual lesson and it was something I will never forget. I love the gospel!
We also got to go on exchanges in Altus Oklahoma this week and that was fun. Sister Secretan and I went to highschool together and we found a street sign that said Pioneer so of course we had to take a picture!!
We had a really great lesson with George this week. And he is getting closer and closer to quitting coffee. That is the only thing holding him back from baptism! He is doing so good though and it has been really neat to see the gospel and especially the book of Mormon change his life. He is a different person than when I first met him 3.5 months ago!
Then on Sunday we were in Seymour. The high council man who was supposed to speak didn't show up so sister Maloney and I got to bear our testimonies on families and it was great! Then we went to see Jason and Casey after church. Jason was in an unusually good mood. Well turns out that he hasn't had a cigarette in 3 days! I know that is a blessing for living the word of wisdom. It was so cool! We also got to teach the restoration again to them and to their 13 year old daughter Ella who we are trying to get to pray and ask if it's all true. And so Jason is getting close! He is out of town a lot because he is a truck driver but he is getting there. Literally i have been teaching them since I got to Wichita 6 months ago and honestly I didn't know if I would ever see this day come to pass. I feel overjoyed. Wichita is literally kicking cigarettes and Satan's butt this week!!! Woohoo!!
Well it's been a good one and I know that more good is to come. I am so thankful for all of these wonderful people out here. I love them all so much and feel very blessed to be on a mission. Also I'm still very excited for conference and I can't wait to watch it!!!
Love y'all,
Sister Gentry
