Road Trippin Part 2

Hi y'all!

Can't believe it's already been another week dona and gone in Texas. Time really does fly. This week was pretty great! All I really remember is from Wednesday on though haha. Wednesday was one of those days that we had 4 lessons and were really excited about them, and then every last one of them cancelled haha. So much fun. Especially when it's real hot out. But we had a miracle find-a guy named JR. He was going through a rough time and we just started talking to him as he sat on a bench. We gave him a book of Mormon and he told us we could come back any time! Hope it goes well! Anyways, that night we drove up to Oklahoma because the next day we had some conference with elder Pearson of the seventy. So we stayed in Noble Oklahoma Wednesday night. We got up early Thursday and went to zone conference. I wish I could share all my notes on it with y'all. It was amazing. His main purpose was to take the mission to the next level. And to so that, you have to have missionaries at the next level. We talked about so many things. But I wanted to share a few of the big ones that stood out to me. the first was he said "You are not who you think you are." He explained that before he found his real identity, a disciple of Jesus Christ, he always considered himself a baseball player. He loved it. It was who he was. He explained how before we came to earth, we all were disciples of Jesus Christ. When we come to earth we of course forget and think we know who we are. Well we have to find our identity again. He compared the earth you to the left side and the disciple you to the right. He talked a lot about things we can do to get to the disciple you. I want to stay on that side forever. I never want to go back to who I was before. Yes I love sports, yes I love the outdoors and animals. But I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. And I will forever be. That was really cool. He told us to write down a few things "Because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ I am not..." and then "because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ I am..." It was some great self reflection. The spirit was so strong. Like I said, I wish I could share everything but alas, I cannot! haha. Something else that we have been talking about a lot is that YOU are in charge of your happiness. Your job is to make you happy. So many missionaries and people in general base their happiness on the circumstances. We cant do that. Its our job. I want to be better at that. I think I let the weather get to me too often haha. Im working on it! One other thing I loved is W. E. I. T. What ever it takes. I want to have the attitude. Get rid of all the excuses and do WHATEVER IT TAKES. I want to do EVERYTHING God needs me to do. I want to become who he wants me to become and Im willing to do whatever it takes. I know it will be hard.
Anyways, those were some of my thoughts. It was cool because MLC was up in the Broken Arrow building. Which is crazy because one year ago I was trained there. It was insane. I was reflecting a lot and man I hope I am a different person. Id like to think I am but it sure is hard to tell sometimes. Fun to be back up there though. I got to see so many missionaries like Sister Lewis and Elder Jones who Ive been able to serve around! It was soooo much fun!!!!

Okay and now to end with a miracle. We had just gotten back home Saturday afternoon from Oklahoma and we got a phone call from a random number. Well she left a message and turns out it was the non member wife of a member who we had visited and tried to start teaching a while ago. We had given her our number and told us to call if she needed anything. She never did and she kept standing us up so we stopped going over. Well she called and said that her husband had died. She wanted helped doing a funeral at the church. She also then said (background story...her husband had some issues and wouldnt let them go to church....I guess he didnt like the church very much but she always loved it when she did go) I really want to be a member of the church. I want to get baptized. We were literally blown away! We are so excited. Her name is Suzanna. Please pray for her she is going through some hard things. But we are going to meet with her tonight! Hopefully everything goes well! We are so excited! God is so good! I love being a missionary. I cant believe that it is going so fast!

Love yall! Thank you for all the prayers!

Love, Sister Gentry
