Where do I begin!
So, I think Its finally fall here. Its been a lot cooler and the mornings and evenings are a little chilly! I love it! I dont sweat so much when Im biking. Totally not excited for it to be cold though. Ha!
Anyways, remember last week when I mentioned Donovan who came to church with a dropped investigator of the Elders? yeah well he has just exploded! You could say he's on fire :) In a good way. So we couldnt meet with him until Thursday. But on monday he called us and had to share his spiritual experiences. On tuesday he called us and testified that he knew it was true. I was prompted to extend the invitation to be baptized and he said he would like nothing more (also this is all over the phone haha) I told him to think of a date and we would talk about it on thursday. Wednesday he also called us. He loves the BOM! Haha so finally thursday we met. He told us his story. He had met with missionaries before and was going to be baptized, but his parents are so anti mormon they drug him out of the church a week before his baptism. He had to lay low for a year. so when he came to church, I gave him a Book of Mormon. He has read it 3 times since then! He has had so many amazing experiences. I wish I could tell you all of them. He is going to be baptized Novemeber 11th. He keeps asking "What do I need to do to prepare for baptism?" haha. Then we met with him again after church. We were going to teach the Restoration but he actually taught us the restoration from studying from the pamphlets and reading scriptures. We just answered his questions and added bits here and there. So we gave him the plan of salvation pamphlet and told him to study that one! haha. We meet with him again on thursday this week. Not only is he eating it all up, he wants to share the BOM with everyone. He made a list of 30 friends he wants to give a Book of Mormon too. Talk about member missionary! And he isnt even a member! We have so many potentials to teach now! MIRACLES! Also I admire his commitment to all this. His family is disowning him for becoming mormon. but he told us that God is more important and that he knows one day his families hearts will be softened even if its not in this life. He is 28, single, 6'8", and his voice sounds like Kronk from the emperors new groove! Its great! I just keep thinking why? Why have we been so blessed to be able to find Donovan at this time? He is the literal golden investigator that missionaries only dream about. We feel so blessed.
Also this week we met with Ricky. The 57 year old man investigator! He is really opening up. He read some of the BoM and has prayed! He had so many really good questions for us and everytime we see him, he is more and more into it! We have another appointment with him on tuesday!
Bernadette we were not able to meet with, but we stopped by to see how they were doing! She surprised us and said that she too has read some of the BoM and is really excited for us to come. (We are seeing her Wed)!
We just have so much work going for us! We are so blessed. But with every peach, there is a pit...we got transfers this week. Sister Woolner will be leaving and I will be staying and getting Sister Jenkins who is actually another spanish missionary and was Sis Woolners MTC comp. So she will be going home at the end of next transfer! (which means I will probably stay for another 2 transfers). I am so sad to see sis woolner go. She is going to redbud valley tulsa spanish ward! She is so nervous but I know she will do great. She has never served in a spanish area before even though she is an hermana and is freaked out! I will really miss her though.
One night this week, I cant remember which night, we were on a tornado watch, but nothing ever happened. Just a lot of thunder and lightning.
Well Im typed out. I wish I could share everything that has happened but there is just too much! I love the gospel, I love being a missionary, I love the Book Of Mormon! The church is true.
I love the scripture D&C 82:3 It says where much is given, much is required. We have all been blessed so much and in return, we have a work to do. We need to give back and serve the Lord. Are you giving back as much as you should? The knowledge, peace, and happiness that the BoM brings me is everything. I would be nothing without it. And I have to share that with the world. That is why Donovan is such an inspiration. Do you love God more than anything else? Would you be willing to give up your family for God?
I love you all, Im thankful for your examples to me and the love and prayers!
Love, Sister Gentry
