Chili Chili Chilly
Hola!
I really have so much to say, and no motivation to write everything! Its just so much its overwhelming so I apologize and will try my best!
So first off I got a new Comp Hermana Jenkins! This is her last transfer. She is from Orem Ut. and she just came from independence Kansas. Which is a super small area in the mission so she is getting used to the busier suburban life this area has to offer. And also the fact that we almost get hit by cars all the time. She is also the STL (sister Training leader) this transfer so she makes a lot of phone calls :) She has a beautiful singing voice and loves musicals. Amazing pianist. We are very different haha but that is Okay! We are getting along great.
This week we were able to teach our investigator Luke. It was funny cause we were teaching the Restoration, Frozen was playing in the background and I gave the first vision with "Do you want to build a snowman?" playing haha.
So DONOVAN! Is amazing. He gave us quite a scare this week and said he may not be able to come back because his parents are going to disown him. (he calls us every single day without fail and its the best) So We talked on the phone and I lovingly but boldly asked him what was more important. What God wants or what his parents wanted? then I asked him to pray for an answer. Well he called us back the next day and said God says I cant give up. So he is doing great. Everytime we meet with him he just teaches us what he learned from the pamphlet and all the hours of study he did! He is sharing the Book of Mormon with everyone. We are going to have like the whole ward at his baptism! they are really taking him in and becoming his new family because his parents are cutting all ties with him. Its so sad. He is a great inspiration to me. (Baptism date is Nov 11th)
So, the chili cook off...we had to judge 20 + pots of chili and my mouth was on fire! There were some really good ones though and I didnt even get sick! (Tender mercies) It was a fun night and it was also cold. haha. We also had many less active and investigator families there!
Lets see what else...sister Bash went home because she was still really sick. That was sad to hear.
Book of Mormon class was awesome this week. We read 3 Nephi 11!
I was on exchanges with sister Ford, and we stopped and talked to a random guy on the street and it turns out he is super interested. We talked about life and having faith and what our purpose is here on earth, and also we breifly taught the restoration. He said we could come back any time and that his wife would love to talk to us to. And he took a BOM! woohoo! His name is Matt. We are excited to go back!
Being a missionary is the best. I love it. this week has been a little challenging with taking over the area, well I mean I cant handle it, but planning for the day by myself is not very fun. But im learning so much.
Love, Sister Gentry
At the Chili Cook off
