It's Freezing!

Hey y'all! Yes, you read right. It went from 90 to 40 in like 5 days and now its cold. So that has been fun as we try to dig out all our warm stuff but I guess it's a nice change. Anyways, this week has been one of many miracles. Monday night we went on exchanges with some sisters. I had the privilege of being with Sister Scoresby, who I just so happen to love very much. We got to spend our day out in a little town called kingfisher. We found a really cool lady who let us right in and we were able to tell her all about church and the Book of Mormon. She believe that God and Jesus Christ are two separate beings just like we do and when we kept finding truths like that, she would say, wow I just love you guys! It was so cool! We biked around for a good portion of the afternoon, and had a great time getting soaked!

Thursday we had zone conference which was just amazing. I got to see sister Hancock which pretty much made my whole week! Instead of the usual format of President and sister Mansell and the APs training, we all had to train. Well not everyone, but a choice few. Sister Weldon and I trained on setting goals and detailed planning. The conference was great though. I got so much out of it and it was spiritually uplifting! I was so pumped to be a missionary after. I mean I'm always pumped to be a missionary but even more so than usual! What a great feeling :)

So this week we have been trying really hard to bring up the gospel to very single person we talk to. It can be hard because most of the time it's natural to say hi and keep going but we are seeing the blessings of it. So Friday night we had a lesson. We got there and the lady stood us up. It was dark and cold and so we decided to run to the dollar store to try and talk to people there and grab a few things. Well, we ended up meeting this guy named Billy. We just started talking to him in the isle. He kept asking us all these questions about who we were and what we did. He was so intrigued. Long story short, he has been searching for truth his whole life and doesn't know where to find it. We gave him a book of Mormon and he said he would come to church. Well he came. And it was awesome. He has so many great questions and has already read some of the Book of Mormon. He is super busy and works weird hours, but he is so determined to learn more he is making time. He is honestly one of the most honest truth seekers I have ever met. It's so cool!! It's a testimony to me that God's hand is in everything. Who knows why Billy was at the dollar store l, and we weren't even supposed to be there in the first place. I love it!!!

So we had Billy, Jane, Natalie, and Olivia all come to church today. It was great! All of them loved it and had a good time. As far as Jane, Natalie, and Olivia go, we had great lessons with them this week and things are progressing! I feel so blessed to be serving in this area with sister Weldon and these people. I sure am learning a lot. Not gonna lie, it's the poorest area I've been in, but the people are humble and ready for the gospel! And all these miracles are just the short version of the week. There are so many other amazing people that we met and are teaching! Thank you for the prayers and keep sending them our way! I just think it's cool when you find someone like Billy, you see how much it means to them and their real intent. He has every reason to be busy or tired and not do anything that we tell him too, but he does it because he is seeking. Too often we take for granted what is most precious and important to us. This is literally changing his life and we have even taught him the restoration! Are you still allowing it to change yours? Alma 5:26.

One last miracle. We got a call from a  bishop in another ward with a referral for a guy named Sean. He just said that Sean had reached out for help and he also really wants to learn how to pray. Well we went over there and at first glance, Sean is a huge buff guy. Tattoos everywhere. Someone you don't really want to mess with. But come to find out he is the best loving, cheerful, and emotionally stay at home dad of 2 girls you will ever meet. Sean has no concept of God and didn't grow up religious but he has realized just recently that God is real. It was amazing as we were talking to him, he kept saying that there was just such a positive energy in the room and he felt so comfortable and at peace. We told him it we a the spirit and he was just blown away. He just kept saying l, wow this is so real. It was powerful as we taught him who God is and his own divine identity and how to pray. Again, this knowledge is changing his life. O feel so blessed that I get to be apart of it! I am so grateful for the wonderful experience that I have to be on a mission. I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Happy fall y'all! Stay warm!

Love, Sister Gentry
