Helaman 5:12

Well let me tell you it's definitely been a week! We had a couple days this week where literally everything that could have fell through did and EVERYONE was busy or out of town because of fall break and so it's been rough. It reminds me of the scripture Helaman 5:12, "...that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, when all his hail and mighty storms shall beat upon you, it shall have no power to drag you down the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build, they can not fall." We definitely felt the mighty winds and storms of Satan, but thankfully the miracles that we have seen have made all the suffering worth it! Here are a few.

So one day when all our plans fell through, we decided to go tract a street that had always stood out to Sister Weldon. Well the first door we knocked on was a lady named Tonya and she invited us back for today, we are going to see her tonight so hopefully that will go well. Then at the very end of the street we also met another lady who we have a book of Mormon to. It's just cool how the spirit prompts us to be in the right place at the right time.

So another miracle, we went to go try a lady who requested a book of Mormon that we haven't really been able to get a hold of. Well we knocked and waited and no one was there so we started walking away and then she ran out after us. We ended up having an awesome lesson on the restoration and she is so down. She said she would read and pray and invited us back for Thursday! We will see how it goes!

The most exciting thing is probably Knrina and her family getting baptized. Hopefully it will be this next saturday. Today we brought a member over from another ward in the area that speaks their language, Chuuk, and he was able to go over the baptismal questions with the mom while we taught the kids. It was awesome. They are so excited to get baptized! I've always thought it would be so cool to bring a family into the church! We have already seen such a difference in their lives.

We also we coming out of a lesson this week with a guy we were dropping, and we met some little kids riding bikes around the parking lot. Well we got to talking and they said they wanted to come to church with us and that we needed to go and meet their mom. Well Meloney and Stormy are 5 and 6 and they are like the most social talkative little girls ever haha. They took us to meet their mom (which is actually their grandma raising them) and we sat down and talked. They all thought I was Elsa and played with my hair almost the whole time :). We told them that our message blesses families and brings peace into our lives. We set up a return appointment for a couple days later. So when we went back we told them about the book of Mormon and invited them to church. Then they came! The girls loved it. I don't know how the grandma felt, she is really hard to read but it was still great that they all came. They really need the gospel in their lives. I hope they continue to come and allow up to teach them.

This week is the ward Halloween party and we are subtly going to be Ana and Elsa because we really aren't supposed to dress up but we can totally pull it off! We are trying to get a lot of our people there so it should be Awesome!

And then real quick something i loved from my studies this week. I was reading Matthew 20:26-28. It talks about how the greatest and chiefest among you shall minister and be a servant as did Jesus Christ. What a great example of charity. Who cares who you are, what you do, or look like. It doesn't matter to God. He loves us all and our job here is to serve and minister to everyone around us. I really love vs 28 as well. "...and to give his life a ransom for many." Christ didn't do any of this for himself, it was all about others. And think about his joy, it was perfect and everlasting...still is. Sometimes we are scared to get outside ourselves and sacrifice for others because we think we will miss out or what's in it for us? Well really everything is. When we lose ourselves for Christ, we find ourselves. How amazing is that! I love it.

Stay warm y'all!

Love, Sister Gentry
