Road Trippin!
This week has been pretty dang awesome like usual. We had an all day multi zone p day last Monday, and it was just so much fun. Sister Hancock and I are the spike ball queens!!! Haha. We were so tired after that though. We had to spend the night in Noble Oklahoma because it was too late to drive all the way back to Texas. In the morning on our way to pick up the Texas elders to head home, we got to drive by OU and I got really excited because I love OU. And then we got hurtz donuts which are the best donuts EVER!!!
Tuesday night be had an awesome lesson with Linda and Garrick. Wills (the husband who is a member) other kids were there and so we also got to teach them, along with Dale, a really awesome 95 year old man who is really good friends with all them. We taught about the small and simple things in life and how if we build our foundation of Jesus Christ, then we cannot fall. Well it went well and after the lesson we were standing outside talking for a while, and out of the blue Linda says, "so when were y'all thinking for our baptism?" It took everything in us to not go crazy and jump for joy! We decided it will probably be around the middle to end of July (which is wayyy to long in our opinion, but they are going to be out of town). It was still awesome and we are so excited about it! It's cool cause it just shows that hard work pays off. Literally their lessons are some of the most stressful I've had. Not only are we teaching a very smart Catholic woman but we also have to meet the needs of her 13 year old son, the Dad, a member who thinks he knows what is best, and usually some other people like Dale or Miguel, Garricks friend. We have had to completely rely on the spirit for our plans and we practice and go over those lessons so much. It's amazing and we are feeling so blessed that things are progressing!!!
So continuing our many travels lately, we went up to Altus Oklahoma for exchanges later on in the week. It was pretty good. I got to be companions with sister Secretan who WENT TO LEHI WITH ME! We had the same seminary class, and know a ton of the same people. It was awesome to get to be with her. I love exchanges because they teach you so much and there are definitely things I need to work on to be a better missionary. I also don't like exchanges though, because I have to leave my wonderful companion sister Hancock. Man I am just so blessed to be with her. She is amazing. We have so much fun and literally get along so well. I am so grateful that I have been able to meet a lifelong friend and we get to participate in this great work together!!!
Also in Altus I popped my first bike tire! Haha, I was starting to think I was going to make it through my whole mission without doing so, but I guess not :)
On our way back from Altus, we stopped by Seymour to teach out investigators there. We had a pretty cool lesson. Sister Hancock pretty much threw down, and just told Jason and Casey how it really is. If they want a better life and to be happier they need to be baptised. These people believe it's true, and want to get baptized, but the situation is rough and he has to quit smoking. But we were able to promise some amazing blessing if they are willing to commit. Hopefully it touched them. Please pray for them, they need it! I think it's so cool how we can be bold as we want and say whatever we need and it doesn't offend them because 1 the spirit is there, and 2 they know we love them. That makes me happy!
Okay last miracle. So a family in the ward, the Stouts, offered to have us over for dinner with an investigator. So we invited Mark to come. Long story short, everything that could have gone wrong logistically, went wrong. By the time we go ally got him to their house we were feeling very awkward and bad about the situation. But anyways we were able to teach Mark about the plan of salvation, and towards the end he started crying and was feeling the spirit. It was awesome. Mark is searching. (Also dad story but him and Tina broke up) he has been prepared to hear the gospel and we are so excited to continue to teach him!! And we are so thankful for the Stouts. Having a member (or multiple) in a lesson and to fellowship makes a world of a difference. If you have the opportunity to do so, go with the missionaries to teach, or have them in your home.
Anyways, I love being a missionary. There is no place I would rather be, and although I don't think I can sweat any more than I have, I would sweat like this for the rest of my life for these experiences. They are life changing. I am so grateful!
Love y'all,
Choose to make this week a good one!
