Tornadoes and Bike Week
This week was HOT and wild...haha! We biked far and wide cause our area is pretty big and boy did we sweat! A highlight of the week was on Wednesday. Everyone was telling us to be careful because there could be some crazy weather that day. For the better part of the day, we were just fine. When we got out of dinner, things got really dark and windy.
After we started biking from our dinner to go to the church, which is about a 20 to 25 minute bike ride, received a text from Sister Mansell (mission mom) saying that a tornado touched down in a city nearby. The clouds we saw in the distance was the storm she was referring to and that we should get in touch with our storm contact. We weren't even close to where we needed to be and it started to rain. We decided to continue and bike as fast as we could to the Babbel's home...our storm contact. Along the way we got asked by a number of people how far we had to go. We were "low key" scared but also laughing so hard. We got about halfway to the Babbel's when they located us and picked us up and took us to their home, where we hunkered down for 2 hours while the storm passed. I admit it was pretty crazy, but fun! The good news though - no tornados in Wichita!

We had a lot of good lessons this week. Serena is amazing and progressing so much. (she is 17) and really wants to know for herself. She has so many amazing questions and It is so much fun to teach her!
We said goodbye to our investigator Des this week. That was sad, he is at MSU and is going home to Dallas. He said that he is going to call the mission president and suggest that we come down the temple there so we can visit him. Haha. That would be awesome!
Funny experience - one day this week, I cant remember when, we had a family feed us dinner, which was super yummy. They had ribs and potatoes...the whole thing. Well, right after that we had a lesson with our investigators Rosa, Junior, and Henry. When we arrived, we noticed they had made us homemade Tostadas. Not eating it would definitely be offensive, so we stuffed ourselves again. We were sooo full! On top of that, it was so hot in the home and we were sweating soooo bad. The lesson went very well, and both of them believe that the Book of Mormon is true. After, Sister and Hancock and I laughed so hard because of how funny and uncomfortable (literally) the situation was. Haha. Good times!
Im excited for this week. I always am with Sister Hancock! Its so much fun and we are seeing so many miracles. I wish I had time to share them all with y'all! haha!
Love you,
Sister Gentry
