If you don't like the weather - wait 5 minutes!

Everyone in Oklahoma says that ^^ about the weather. And its pretty much true. It was freezing yesterday and I had to get my big coat back out. But anyways this week was awesome. So Here are some of the highlights!

We taught Burak from Turkey about the plan of salvation (well really just the first part) he was raised Muslim, but he now considers himself christian but doesn't really have any direction. He knows God is real, but feels as though he has abandoned him and he wants him back in his life. We had an amazing lesson talking about Gods love for us and how we are part of his plan. And then we focused on the Atonement. He is super interested in the Book of Mormon! It was just incredible! He was going to come to conference, but then he got the flu. So hopefully he will be able to come to church this next week.

Esteban! He was raised Jehovah Witness, but doesn't practice it so he doesn't really know what he is doing when it comes to religion. But we taught him the restoration and it was cool because he pretty much said that we needed a prophet and when we asked how he thought God would call a prophet, he explained how the first vision went and Joseph Smith. I think he was a little scared at the end of the lesson at his own real intent. He didn't know that he had any of it and he may be scared to commit, but he said he would read Alma 32, so we will see if he does!

Emmy: She is Catholic who came up to us (from Colorado) and has a ton of Mormon friends. We taught her The plan of salvation. She liked it. Its hard to read her because she loves her faith so much but she said she would read and pray and come to church! I love Emmy she literally is so joyful!

Hannah: Hannah is just amazing as always. I had a really cool experience with her. So for the last couple weeks leading up to Easter I have been studying the Atonement and the Resurrection and trying to strengthen my testimony in them. Well I have learned a lot (especially from reading the book "Jesus the Christ." anyways, Hannah was asking something about the atonement and I had the opportunity to bear a very personal testimony of it and about Christ's love for us. I was crying and I NEVER cry in lessons usually. Even when I do feel the spirit. But I was so overcome with Gods love for us that I couldnt hold it in. I know that the Atonement is real. I know that it is the strength and all encompassing support that we need to get through this life. And it was done out of pure love. Words cannot adequately describe that love or how I feel. I love my savior Jesus Christ, and I will serve him to the end with all my might, mind and strength to show him my love but in all reality, the only way I can do that is through his strength. I LOVE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. I can relate to Alma when he said "O that I were an angel and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!" Alma 29:1-2 (read 2 also). Anyways Its just been awesome.

Another cool experience was we were walking around campus and sat on some swings next to two girls. I started talking to them and like mid conversation sister Baker just stands up and leaves. I was confused but just kept talking because we had just gotten to talking about prophets and General conference. Well those girls a couple minutes later had to leave. Sister Baker had gone to a nearby park bench and sat next to a girl named Olivia. She just had the prompting that we had to talk to her. So I awkwardly got up and went over. We had a great discussion about the book of mormon and the restoration and we are going to meet with Olivia on Tuesday. I hope it goes well! I love how my Greenie (sis Baker) Is so confident and listens to the spirit so faithfully. She is honestly the best. How did I get so lucky?!

Conference of course as you all know was this weekend! I LOVED IT! Holy cow is the Lord hastening his work or what?! Wish I could tell you all of my thoughts but I dont have enough time for that! I am excited to go back and read over and study them more. I am so grateful for a prophet on the earth today to lead and guide us. I know that this is Gods true church and I am so happy to be a missionary serving him and bringing this knowledge to the students at OU! GO SOONERS!

Love, Sister Gentry

I love Sister Baker
