Spring is in the air and the break!
I've been asked so many times what my plans are for spring break, that I started to believe I was going on one. Haha but alas I am a missionary and I'm happy to be so. The weather was pretty great and that made me so happy! We have been able to find a lot of people (well before Friday afternoon when everyone left) and its been the best. We have been working so hard and I love it when we drag into the apartment at night exhausted.
We started the week off with some great lessons. One with our investigator Ben, who we taught the Plan of Salvation to. He said that a lot of it was new, but almost everything else aligned with his personal beliefs. Sister Baker did awesome and invited him to be baptized if he found out it was true, and he said he thought it would be really important to, so yes!
We also taught Emmy this week and that went great. She really loves her faith but is so open to the book of Mormon. (She is from Colorado and has a ton of Mormon friends on missions). so that was just awesome. She is going to come to church after spring break.
We had another great lesson with Evan. We found him at the booth, and when I asked him why he wanted to meet with us he said that last semester he met some Elders and they just talked for a few minutes, but he was impressed and he wanted to know why they were so happy. He said there was just something different. So this time when he met us, he said he felt the same way and wanted to know what it was that we had. So this was the third time that we taught him. We had a recent convert member there and it went great. He also committed to be baptized if he found it to be true, and also came to church on Sunday! The work is GREAT!
But along with all of this, Spring break started and its literally dead. No one is around and that has made it hard. We have had to get creative. Sister Baker also had her first door knocking experience this week! She did awesome. We had some really funny moments though. Haha. (we dont knock a lot of doors because usually its more effective for us to find and talk to people on campus) But the weather has been very nice and Ive been enjoying that. Not excited for the humidity to come.
I am so thankful to be a missionary and especially to have Sister Baker. I dont know why I get blessed with the best companions ever. I have been learning a lot, and we have been pushing each other because we want to raise the bar and reach our potential. I love how in any companionship-marriage, friendship, team etc...-if you both have the same goals and priorities and focus, then you can do amazing things.
I hope you all have a great week! I am getting so so so excited for General Conference! Dont forget to start thinking of some questions and preparing for the revelation to come!
Love, Sister Gentry
