HEY YALL!

Yeah so I’ll just jump to the chase. Elder Bednar came to our mission and all the missionaries got to go. He spoke to us for 3 hours! But he didn’t just talk it was more of an interactive discussion. It was amazing! I wish I could just tell you everything that he taught us and that I learned but alas, I cannot. Something that really stood out to me though is that we are not objects. We are agents. We need to act not be acted upon (or wait to be acted upon) have faith, and pray in faith with the intent to ACT! this isn’t about having spiritual experiences and then doing nothing. We must always try to be better. Just a little bit every day. and then over time, we have progressed and grown and we are a completely changed person. Elder Bednar then did a New member/recent convert fireside for 2 hours after ours that we were able to attend. It was also very good. We were so lucky to be able to see him. It was a long day though. We got home at 11:45 at night which is very much against mission rules (don’t worry president knew) but the meeting didn’t get over until 8, we hadn’t eaten dinner, we also had to pick up our new beds, and then drive 2 hours’ home :) ha-ha.

But this whole week has just been great. We have a new investigator Ricky who is awesome. He is an older guy and we saw him twice this week. The lessons were so spiritual. The spirit really does put into your heart and mind what to say if you are open to it. The holy ghost can bring things unto your heart, but you have to open your heart to let it in. I hope Ricky was able to open his heart because I know 100% that the spirit was there! I know he felt something though. Because he keeps inviting us back. I just hope he feels enough to ACT and read the book of Mormon for himself. The BOM will change his life and bring the peace that he needs! Anyways, it was awesome.

So this week was another mission wide bike week. Unlike last time it was not 100 degrees all week but it poured rain. I’ve ridden my bike in the rain before but this was like torrential down pour all day! It took my shoes two days to dry out! I was drenched! We tried to take a picture but it’s really hard to see how wet we actually are.

So we thought the bed bugs were gone and I haven’t gotten any bites all week. But we found 4 more the other day. And sister Woolner got some bites. We just can’t seem to get rid of them. So today it was definitely a tender mercy. We got a phone call from the stake mission leader guy. He asked if we still had bed bugs and he said yes. He then said cool, I’m sending an exterminator from my ward. So hopefully today they will all be killed!

This Wednesday we are going to the temple! I am so excited! I have been wanting to go so bad. We are pumped!

Something cool this week, so as ya’ll might know, my dad was called as Bishop yesterday. I have been thinking about that a lot lately. And throughout the week, I had experiences that were really cool pertaining to how a Bishop is called and the work he does and stuff. I know that the prophet and his apostles are called of God. I know that my dad has been called by God. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that the Book of Mormon is the most true book on the face of the earth. READ IT EVERYDAY! Elder Bednar said the world is like a dark room full of sharp objects. We are given a flashlight to get through it unharmed. That flashlight is the BOOK OF MORMON. When we don’t read it, we are turning off our lights. DONT TURN OFF YOUR LIGHT…You will die if you turn off your light because you will be impaled by the sharp things in the room!

Love you all! Miss your guts!

Love, sister Gentry
