Bike, Sweat, Gated Apartments = Baptize!

Hey yall!

I can’t believe it is once again P day. I feel like I was just here at the computer writing you all. But whatever! haha. This week was really good. And really hot and humid. And we biked all week. Haha, Sister Woolner can’t get over how much I sweat. I warned her and she didnt believe me until she saw it with her own eyes. It’s pretty great. We definitely have seen the miracles from biking though. We have found two new investigators. Bernadette (her husband is a member and they have the cutest little boy) and then we found a lady named Elaine. She has met with missionaries before but for some reason stopped. But she really wants to come to Book of Mormon class and we are so excited. We also found a ton of solid potentials that we are going back to see this week. We are going to be so busy which is awesome and I’m so excited!

Also, GENERAL CONFERENCE! Wasn’t Women’s conference just the best? I was so excited that Uchtdorf spoke. He is so cool and I love his stories! It was such a good reminder to always be GLAD because why not?! Life is so good and when we dwell on being mad or sad we are wasting our time usually on things we cannot control. Yes, we all feel those emotions and it’s not bad to feel them, but we must not dwell on them! BE HAPPY! Choose to be happy and you will find that life is so good. I love that because we have an eternal perspective in life, no matter what happens and no matter the circumstance, we can be happy because our focus is on our savior Jesus Christ. He is the source of eternal JOY! And if he is not your focus, do the things to make him your focus. I just want all of you to know that I am so happy. I am happy to be a missionary. I am happy that I can teach others to feel and find the same happiness in their own lives! Its the best. Im also happy that all of you love me enough to read my emails each week :). I love you guys and hope you can feel some of my happiness!

Let’s see...we were so busy I can’t really remember anything that happened....Just a lot of biking and knocking doors and talking to people. One day we got chased out of a trailer park by a lady who said we couldn’t be in there because it was private property. She followed our bikes in her car until we were all the way out. It was so dumb. Also, we have some members who live in a gated apartment complex. The gate code they gave us doesn’t work and so every time we get there, we have to wait and pray that a car comes to let us in, and then once again back out. Haha. So far we are 6 for 6! 3 in and 3 out!

Something fun we did this week was make cookies and take them to people (mostly Less active young women in the ward and invite them to women’s conference.) It was a lot of fun! I love surprising people like that.

Oh I would say one of the highlights of the week is that every Tuesday we do a bible study at a local nursing home. One of the old Lady's there, Rose, she is a member and is so funny! We bonded very quickly and told me I had beautiful hair. Afterwards we talked and got to know her more and she is from Utah. We talked about Utah a lot and random different things (and at some point the old ladies got in a fight over who was older so sister Woolner and I had to calculate their ages because they couldn’t remember how old they were turning this year. :) (88 and 89) haha. Anyways when we left Rose gave me the biggest hug and started crying. She said that she really missed Utah and that I had felt like home to her. She wouldn’t let go of me. It was so sad and I decided that if I ever got put in a nursing home I would rather die because it’s just too lonely. But we told her we would come back and visit her more often. It was a neat experience.

Anyways, I love Owasso and the people here. Life is good!

PS - SO OUR INVESTIGATOR STEVE FROM BROKEN ARROW GOT BAPTIZED THIS WEEK!!!!! I don’t know how I forgot to say this earlier. It was amazing and very spiritual! I was asked to say the closing prayer. It was funny because he had to be dunked three times because his toe kept popping up. It was sort irreverent but after the third time everyone started clapping. There were a lot of non-members and investigators there so it was so funny. Steve was so sweet too. He sincerely thanked us for everything we’d done for him and told me that we were the only people he trusted. He said I’m like family to him and that I better stay in touch! Man, he is awesome and so strong. He is 100% in. I wish everyone could have his desire to be the best he can and serve as much as he does.

Love, Sister Gentry
