Happier than a tornader in a trailer park!
Talk about a crazy week!!! Ill just cut to the chase and talk about the Tornado! Haha yes, we had a tornado and it was right on top of us. Not gonna lie, it was super exciting and my adrenaline was going and I would be lying if I said it wasnt a little scary. So Saturday night I am dead asleep. Around 1:30 a.m. sister Bash is like 5 feet from me and says "Sister!" I like jump out of bed scared out of my mind. I had no idea what was happening. She quickly explains, "there is a tornado on the ground right by us and we need to get into the bathtub." I of course being me went straight to the door and flung it open. I have never seen so much rain in my life. or wind, or thunder or lightning. It was insane. Like there werent rain drops, it was like a giant faucet just pouring down in sheets. The whole sky was lit up always because of the lightning and the thunder was shaking our apartment. Well our neighbor Sean opened the door and was like, you guys should go get in your bathtub. haha so we did. We werent in there too long when our Ward mission leader told us it had passed and it was safe to go back to bed. Well after all that excitement I didnt fall back asleep for a long time. It was still raining and thunder and lightning so loud and close. So this tornado was rain wrapped and I found out later that when I opened the door, we were right in the surrounding of the tornado. So after like 3 hours of sleep we got up and as we are driving to church, we see all the destruction. the trees all around our apartment are destroyed. One got hit by lightning and is really black and exploding like right in front of our place. We can actually see the path of the tornado and its crazy. It was ripping up fences and roofs and mostly trees everywhere. Like huge trees! I just think its funny that I didnt wake up to it before sister Bash woke me up. I didnt hear the sirens or anything! I must be a heavy sleeper haha. So now I can say I have been in a tornado!!!
A couple days before we were trying to visit some less actives who lived in the very furthest part of our area. It was like a 25 minute drive. So we start driving and everything is fine and then all the sudden we were in the biggest rain storm that i have ever been in previous to the tornado. I was driving in like 5 inches of water. Long story short, we didnt turn around and we were soaked by the time we visited all the members. haha. It was fun. Dad you would love the lightning out here!
Another funny story from this week. We were biking on a very skinny road and I was behind sister Bash like usual and she suddenly slammed on her breaks and dropped her bike and ran into the road. I couldn't stop in time, and hit her bike on the ground. Turned to the edge of the road, lost my balance, fell off the road over my bike and down into the dirt. Turns out while I was sitting in the dirt, she was saving a pretty good sized turtle that was sitting in the road haha.
Okay so investigators! haha Amy, Abby, and Steve and Jenette all came to church this week! It was great! Amy is getting baptized on the 19th and she is so ready. She is so humble and willing to do what the Lord wants her to. She teaches me so much whenever I go over there. I want to be like her and accept Gods will for her. We had a special moment with her this week. I told yall that she was really broken and suicidal. Well every since we started meeting with her she said that has stopped. But on Sunday she told us that we literally saved her life. She was going to kill herself. That is so special. I feel to very honored and blessed to be apart not only saving someone spiritually but physically too. God answered her prayers and sent us to her!
Steve and Jenette are just amazing. They actually took us to Texas Roadhouse for dinner this week because they just love us! Haha they make me so happy to visit. They are like our grandparents! They met with the bishop this week about marriage and they said it was awesome! I am so excited for their wedding!
One last thing, this week the General Relief society president Sister Bingham and then primary councilor and Young Womens councilor sister Marriott came from SLC to speak to us!! IT was amazing. We got to go to a general womens meeting, a special missionary one, and then a YSA meeting. They are great speakers and I learned so much from them!
This week was great and very crazy but it just gets sweeter and more joyful all the time! I love being a missionary. I love the scriptures and I have literally seen the power of the Book of Mormon change peoples lives as they read it! Read it everyday!
Love yall,
