4th of JULY!

Hey yall!

Oklahoma is pretty cool. Its been sweltering hot and really humid the last couple days and I got to see a crazy thunder and lightning storm. Dad you would love the storms here. They just downpour and so loud.

This week was so much faster and better than last week. I dont have much time today but I try to say as much as I can.

We were tracting in our apartment complex (which we figured out the day after that we are actually not allowed to do haha oops) and we had knocked on like 40 doors with no luck. Finally we ran into a girl named Bree. 23, working, and living alone. Surprising she invited us right in. We talked with her, showed her a video about Christ and she felt the spirit and invited us back. Turns out she has been wanting to come closer to God and she believes fate send us to her. We went back a couple days later and taught the restoration. It was amazing. I was able to share the first vision and the spirit was so strong. We go back today to continue to teach. --Side note, the first day we were there I prayed that she would find a new job (I felt impressed to do so for some reason) When we came back that next day or so, she said that two new job opportunities have come up and she was so thankful for that prayer. First mission miracle ive been able to experience first hand!

We have also been teaching an older couple named Steve and Jenette. They are scared to get married because of past marriages and our stupid world making it better to not be married becuase of retirement and finance reasons. (Satan is totally after the family if ya didnt know that by now) Anyways the Elders met with them before us and they have come to church, but they never really taught them the lessons. They gave the pamphlets. So we taught the restoration and committed them to pray to know if the BOM is true. (they have been reading all this time but the elders werent doing their job apparently) We are going by tonight to check on them because steve has social anxiety and wasnt able to make it to church because he doesnt like crowds. Pray for him. We are going to hopefully help him learn to rely on jesus christ and pray to have that taken away. But anyways, they are solid and super awesome!

Then I went on Exchanges with the STL sis Chamberlin who is like the DL for the sisters. She was awesome and it was so fun! I got to stay the night at her apartment in Owasso (Garth Brooks used to live there!!!!) We went to this lesson with a recent convert (who got baptized because the elders caught him a squirrel) so we are trying to help him grow his faith. Anyways, this guy and his wife have 14 birds in their home. Ya it was crazy. The next morning we helped a nonmember move! We went to lunch at a mexican place called Baja Jacks that is set up like Rumbi in utah but is mexican and super delicious. Then we exchanged back saturday afternoon. I learned a lot from being with sister chamberlin. She is just herself with people and because of that she can make great connections with them. I have been praying and studying to be more myself. I learned that when I serve and love the people, I can do this. As I have practiced, I have noticed I have more a connection with people. I need to be Brooklyn before Sister Gentry. That is how you build trust. Then she kept saying how awesome and prepared I was. She thinks that as soon as I am done training, that I will be a trainer!! Ahh I really freaked out at that. We have so many missionaries leaving and then a ton coming in. Also she said the thinks I will be STL sometime in the future. Ya I dont see it but haha....

Well tomorrow is P day, we just get to email today because the Library is closed tomorrow. We have an all day P day!!!! (usually we are back to work at 6 pm) We are going to a bbq ward party in the evening and then during the day we are having like a bunch of zones get together at a park for games and food and stuff! Im pumped!!! 4th of july is my fav. I love America. We have so many rights and are truly blessed to be so free.

The ward is great. So many people want to help and go out with us. I would say that almost everyday we have a youth with us. When we dont have the car and need to get places we have to get rides from members. One day we got 4 rides from 4 different people. Sometimes its really stressful haha. = lots of phone calls.

Missionary work is awesome! Try to look for missionary moments at home. They will make you happy and bless your life.

Random thought. Sis Bash loves to cook and one night when we didnt have a dinner, she made curry and it was bomb. hmmmm. Im lucky and now fat hahaha! Im excited for this week. We have zone conference this week. Next week we have two (ish) week follow up. All the greenies have to teach president, sister mansell, the APs and trainers the lessons. Low key freaking out about that!

Love you all!
Sister Gentry
