Arrived at OKC - Broken Arrow first area

Hey everyone!

This week has been crazy. As soon as week landed in OKC I could feel the humidity. But its not too bad. Mostly mid 90s here but everyone keeps telling us that the heat is coming. The last two days havent even been that humid. We stayed Tuesday night in the mission home. President Mansell is awesome. His wife was out of town in Utah so I haven't met her yet.

The next morning we made french toast and then went to the church for a short training and transfers. It was crazy. I met my trainer and new companion Sister Bash. and then I followed her around for a while as she talked to everyone. Then she doesnt have her license so haha I had to drive right off the bat. We went to the mission office to pick up my teewee card (love that thing) haha nope) and then we went to get my bike which is awesome. Its so cool. but because it is special for sister missionaries with skirts it has low entry and doesnt fit on the bike rack very well so I had to buy a bar thing for it. Yeah I was not happy about that. Then I drove 2 hours to Broken Arrow.

So sister Bash (been out 10 months) and I are pink washing. Meaning we are taking over and Elders Area. We moved into their old apartment and let me just say you could definitely tell Elders lived there. It still has a weird smell but its getting better. Broken arrow is south of Tulsa. It seems pretty big but I guess some of our area is far out and kindof in the "boonies" as everyone says. I dont really think its boonies in my book. Its very similar to virginia. Lots of trees everywhere and tons of bugs and fireflies. I miss the mountains and the blue skies of utah. the skies just arent as blue here. I dont know why. Its just a little hazy always. There are also churches EVERYWHERE. There is honestly a couple that we call the great and spacious building. It's ridiculous.

The first full day we had we spent mostly inside, getting to know the area book and the members area book (so pretty much looking at all the people and who they are) I was going crazy. I hate sitting around all day. It was hard. the next day was a little better but still not amazing. We got to go out a little bit but not as long as I would like. The rest of the week continued in the same pattern but everytime we were able to go out earlier.  We have only met with one investigator. Her name is Abby she is 18 and she is learning everything she can about every church she can find. She has a protestant background. We met with her at Starbucks haha. Turns out she actually hates coffee (and so do we) so it was funny that we were meeting there. I didnt really get to talk much because sister Bash just wouldnt stop. We will have to work on that.

So about sister Bash. She is from Eugene Oregon. Has 9 siblings. the last place she was in was Witchita Falls Texas for 6 Months! She is super homemaker cook you anything, hair, makeup, clothes person. haha. she is very bold, and loud and pretty much think of my characteristics. she hates sports or anything athletic. :( Also already wearing my clothes. I mean I didnt want to say no, but its good, I dont need to be selfish and also I can probably wear her stuff too. Also we have different shoe sizes so (wipes sweat off head) we dont share shoes. :) We get along pretty well though. We havent had any problems!

Personal study is some of my favorite time. I love it. Its kinda the only time Im okay with just sitting there. I really have a desire to get out and share the gospel. when we are out meeting people is when I feel the best. (Not that I feel bad at all)  We have done like no finding though. We only have a few Investigators that the Elders left us from the previous transfer. The ward loves to feed us though. We have had a dinner appointment everynight (excpet for the first where we ate cereal because we had no food). Thursday and Friday we were taken out to Mexican restaurants haha. I love what I am doing and this week has been great, I just cant wait to get fully immersed in the work. I feel like we have to do all the tedious organizing first and then the rest will come. The members in the ward are super willing to come out with us. They keep asking to do so. Honestly,
living in Utah, I didn't even know ward members did that. We do like no missionary work in Utah wards. Its sad.

One of the funniest times we had was visiting with a less active. He had his 94 year old mother living with him. she was a hoot. The quote of the week came from her "If it tastes good, spit it out!" haha. Yeah im totally going to get fat. Its horrible. I really try to not eat a lot and we like never snack during the day...but ugh. Please sign me up for a personal trainer and all the strength and conditioning classes you can when I get back! :)

Its great out here! I hope I get put in some small town sometime. Im sorry this email has been all over the place and crazy. Most of these pictures are my district from the MTC. More to come from being out here! thank you for all the prayers and support! Love you all!
